My most painful loss was the loss of potential winnings when in 1988 I wrote out a £1 Lucky15 (15 x£ 1)at the Newmarket July meeting

Cold Marble 9/1
Soviet Star 15/8
Hello Vaigly 5/1
Llyn Gwynant 14/1

It would have paid nearly 6k (the early morning prices were bigger as I remember) an enormous amount of me in those days.  Unfortunately I changed my mind and ripped it up and wrote a £40 double on Soviet Star and Hello Vaigly and picked up about £800.

As someone who likes to place his bets on strong probabilities - as it's served me very well over the years - I hate the unpredictability of the first few games of a new season. You've got teams with new managers, players etc. Promoted sides full of fire & enthusiasm. & players, who last season looked distinctly average, suddenly become match-winners. It was nearly a year ago I went to Anfield expecting us to turn over West Ham with ease. Based on the simple fact that we always have. But Bilic has moulded a very good side & gone was that soft under-belly that the Hammers had carried for decades. We were smashed at home that day 3-0. Now as it turned out I layed Liverpool to win on the any other score market. So whilst I won money that day, I dare say that result was a coupon buster for many people. I have started doing a lot more in-play betting now. Think it's a lot safer than the pre-match bets.

yes a nightmare this early season betting, for some filth

She was favourite to beat a horse who gave Minding and Seventh Heaven a scare ( Queens Trust ) TOP G1 filly form.
And thanks to the guy who does the handicapping she ran off a mark of..... 90 brilliant.

Never put a post up pre race because we all know what normally happens it goes t1ts up afterwards. Trainer in form was just a bonus got almost 2/1 on here unreal for a group horse.

I was on UDS at 3/1 because I saw value as Douvan, to me, was probably an unlikely runner given another suitable race in Ireland and Mullins' lack of propensity to run his best horses in England this time of the year.

For your info, Idaho was not the 'fav' for the St Leger when he was priced up at 10/1 similarly with Seventh Heaven (9/1) in the Yorkshire Oaks; Lucida (12/1) in the 2015 1000G; The Last Samuri 25/1 (National); Churchill (12/1) 2000G; Altior (5/1) Arkle; Don Cossack (8/1) Gold Cup, and many others. I only go on 'value' given depth of race eg probable opposition/runners.

If Found had not been retired I'd not back her next season either no matter what because her win/run ratio is extremely poor, and on several occasions was beaten at odds-on; she lost in the Champion Stakes and the Breeders Cup - I hope you were not on her for these two races.

Age among jump jockeys is often an issue that divides fans. Ruby, Richard Johnson and Paddy Brennan are all at the veteran stage but all are riding really well at the moment. Anyone who backed Cue Card last Boxing Day, Theatre Guide at Cheltenham and No Duffer as I did will be giving thanks for Brennan in a finish. At the other end of the spectrum, young jockeys are castigated for the occasional poor ride but they have the chance to improve with experience.

Since I can't reply to either of the other Superbowl topics ....

I had a brief glimpse at the BBC coverage and was horrified at some of the presenters & guests. I quickly switched back to Sky. I watched up until the first score last night, recorded the rest and watched it back this morning. That was the most unbelievable comeback I have ever witnessed. So totally one sided and then switching totally around. I had a chunk on the Patriots, had totally written it off & watched in complete disbelief as they pulled it out of the fire.

I think it's a good sport to watch. Up until the last few games they have the red zone program on, which shows all the scoring chances & action continually switching from game to game at the same time and on a separate channel to the live game. The QB's are extraordinary and mostly throw the ball with unbelievable accuracy and under pressure. The running backs are exceptional athletes, the wide receivers often make incredible catches.

The game has a great statistical base, with dozens of website providing masses of stats. This increases the attractiveness of the sport for many as a betting sport. The betting value available on the handicaps is as good as in any sport. They offer 10/11 each of two with a push for a draw, where you get your money back on a push. e.g You bet a team with a -3 handicap, they win by 3 and you get your stake returned.

First 2 races at Lingfield go to Jacob and Brennan at 9/2 and 7/2. I backed the Henderson horse in the first and just touched off but I waded in on Paddy.

More aftertiming gold. Note the added flourish of "waded in".

accas are bookie benefit bets, they love them.

that's why they stick this chris kamara "edit your acca" ad on all the time. They know they're mug bets.

Hard enough to pick one winner at cheltenham let alone several.

Having said all that my biggest win at the festival was when I had Our Conor and Bobs Worth in a double a few years back Wink

Obviously it depends lewisham ranger. Backing 2-4 horses on the nose in handicaps at cheltenham is like throwing money at bookies and about as mug like as it gets. However, doubles and trebles aimed to place or lump doubles on strong favourites are where I have made the most money at cheltenham. I remember last year where a Vautour / Thistlecrack double was near on 5/1. Loaded and lumped and rolled around in gravy!!!

these posted on a cheltenham acca thread

you just can't beat Reminiscing and these 2 followed each other in

"why the huge page spread pullout"

I do not know what you mean.

I think someone went on social media or emailed ATR Cheltenham preview night about the well-being of Douvan but Gary O'Brien (ATR Irish expert) and Jamie Lynch both had no knowledge of that. I also believe someone from Closutton denied the rumour too on Chapman's phone-in programme the previous evening.

tbf to Chapman he was reporting his opinion on Douvan in the Sun (which wasn't different to most other peoples).

Then he said afterwards "other people had said he wasn't right" which is very different to saying "I knew he wasn't right".
Report ZenMaster March 17, 2017 1:13 AM GMT
Chapman began all this by saying " not everyone will be surprised by this, there were people from the Mullins yard saying that Douvan was not working like his usual self"

Should he have mentioned this in his column? only if he believed it. I can't see what he has done wrong here. You are a harsh bunch.>

The Grand National aftertiming is sickening.

Surely a yellow and red card system needs introduced. One more slip of your filthy aftertiming tongue then goodbye you filth.
Report lewisham ranger April 9, 2017 1:25 PM BST
one of the worst aftertimers I've encountered on here is jedi sophie, who tends to pop up on every golf tournament thread around about halfway through, to tell everyone how he's annoyed that the leader isn't further clear as he's on them at big prices. Such post is invariably accompanied by a sad face Cry

I pulled him up on it as noticed he was doing it on every tournament. Given that golf has 140 odd players in most tournaments, it seemed rather far stretched to think that he was on the leader everytime. it's possible he was backing them but then conveniently failed to mention how he probably backed half the field as well.

quite a subtle aftertimer this guy is. I notice as well that ever since I've exposed his chronic aftertiming that he's held a grudge against me. Actually had to block him as the abuse got too much- clearly didn't like having his little ruse exposed.

What a pathetic little keyboard warrior you really are! Popped up on the Forum falling out with people who have been on here for years and years and who dare to question your nonsensical garbage you pst on a host of subjects, including mainly the Golf forum you talk of above! And the same Forum i exposed you as a complete Novice on the sport.

Who when challenged still refused to post up his bets in relation to mine, and my alleged aftertiming!

Good to see my fellow forumites not falling for your version of nonsense on a different thread you sad individual.

happy stalking!

Been on this Forum probably approaching ten years and the Bold Lewisham ranger the first and so far the last to accuse me of aftertiming....And all because i had a decent run on the golf, something he is clearly incapable of! And bet his bigggest winner ever at a bigger price than him!

LOL..LaughLaughLaughLaugh
