Was a little surprised was able to get Matsy at 28s. Even more surprised to be able to get more at 32s Excited stake back now so a nice free bet on the best player in the field ExcitedExcited

Done Hatton as well. Gullane was a pretty good track from memory, anyone here played it?

Ive played all three courses Rhino Was slightly underwhelmed tbh. Good, but not as good as I thought they were going to be. Think this event is over an amalgamation of courses 1 & 2.

Agree re Hatton, he's my main bet. Also giving Southgate another chance. And Dylan Frittelli.

I have played all three Gullane courses. Found 2 the harder of the three but the weather was not good when I played it and in particular there was a driving wind.

Will be backing Hatton too along with along with Ulhein and Jacquelin

Rickie Fowler, I have no idea how he does it, but he is truly world class at losing.

He manages to gently avoid winning with considerable ease.

nah. i've seen these sort of tournaments before, the default view is that a random will win, but they'll all get nervous, still v confident in my fowler/rose bets.

this is the most clueless post i've ever seen on the betfair forum.

if you don't understand that fowler is a top player, who will win loads of top tournaments over the next few years (including majors)

then i suggest you give up gambling, and quickly.

sorry 2nd last group out
Report lewisham ranger July 15, 2018 12:03 AM BST
I don't know if it's value or not but who's going to win?

siem, rai, dantorp, hend, fox?

would you really have faith in these guys?

I wouldn't.

so in answer to your question, then yes, I do think he's value, because a lot of the players in my opinion are just dead wood, and regardless of their score now, I don't think they'll win.

if rose won it wouldn't surprise me, if fowler won it wouldn't surprise me, (even hatton)  but if rai or siem won then i would be surprised. genuinely shocked in fact.
Report lewisham ranger July 15, 2018 12:06 AM BST
wasn't fowler six behind going into the last round of the world hero then ended up winning comfortably. i also feel he's more comfortable in these sort of events that are away from the american spotlight

despite what several say on here, who enjoy bashing people, he's a proven winner. yes he gets ahead of himself sometimes and doesn't win as often as he probably should, yes he has a big media profile so get's hyped up a lot, but anyone who understands golf or understands sport can see he's a big time player. eventually he'll get it right and you'll see what all the hype is about.

Ian Poulter is an ****

I did some volunteering at the Scottish Open this week. The vast majority of tour professionals are gentlemen. Some are more communicative than others, but in the main they’re gentlemen . . . with the odd exception.

There follows  the text of a letter to the tournament director;

‘Dear Mr Stewart

I have been advised by the tour office that you are the best person to receive this message. I am one of dozens of volunteers who have been contributing to the success of the Scottish Open. I don’t do it for the meal vouchers or the shirt, but to help my golf club make the event a success, and for the benefit of my home village.

I certainly don’t do it to be abused by a competitor.

I was marshalling at drive distance on the first hole, positioned in the rough on the left  of the fairway, when I saw a hooked drive disappear into the base of a bush not far from me. My colleague on the other side crossed the fairway and confirmed that it was visible. He left and I stood and waited for the player. It turned out to be Mr Poulter, who arrived in a shower of expletives, and asked me where his ball was. I told him and said that I had not ventured into the bush for fear of standing on it. I wasn’t expecting thanks, but i wasn’t expecting aggression either. He told me in essence that I should have, his reasoning being that if I stood on the ball it was a free drop, whereas if he did it was a penalty. As it happened the ball was visible, he contrived  a stance, and wedged it on to the fairway. But he wasn’t finished, he came back at me and said again that next time (there won’t be) I should go straight in there feet first. This was witnessed by one of the TV guys, who told me that I had done nothing wrong, (I knew that) and that this was typical of Mr Poulter’s behaviour.

Basically I take no **** from no man. Industrial language doesn’t bother me, but truculent aggression does. Marshals are instructed in their briefing not to speak to players, unless spoken to. By the same token I believe that the only thing players should say to marshals is ‘Thank you.’ I know that the vast majority do.

My first inclination was to do no more that slaughter Mr Poulter on my blog and Facebook page, but now I feel that I have a duty on behalf of all the other volunteers to bring the incident to the Tour’s attention. I’m not asking for him to be fined, because I don’t see the point of that. However I would like him to be reminded that even though most of the world knows you’re an ****, there’s no need to go proving it to the rest. I will take his apology as read, but if he wants to make it in person, I’m not hard to find in Gullane.

Yours’

Fowler is a good player but his career is starting to mirror that of a tour pro who banks a lot of top tens but doesn't get the W ala Matt Kuchar.

He is 30 in December and has been out on tour early a decade and has 4 pga tour wins and a couple of euro tour wins. Three years ago he won the scottish open since then he has 2 wins.

He may well win loads of top tournaments over the next few years but the only people giving up gambling as things stand are those who have been backing him over the last few years.

im getting involved for the first time this week, as i have been having truble picking players to bet on, lack of confidence or something i am not sure. However this bet has jumped out at me for a trade at the very least which is Marcel Siem to win today, i know he hasnt been around leaderboards for a while and can throw in howlers when in contention but he has won multipl times and does have form on these sort of courses and conditions and being available at 30/1 just seems a little but too much value to ignore.

good luck everyone
