When interviewed always say 'The GOLF course' when all they need to say is 'The Course'

'The GOLF course is set up well'
'Out on the GOLF course'
'I think the GOLF course is blah blah blah'
etc etc

Why add the word GOLF every time for no reason?

I think it's for the same reason that football commentators always say "football match" instead of just "match".  It just gives them an extra split second to think what they are going to say next.
