Really looking forward to this one. Decent field and a couple of stand outs for me.

My main bet is Soren Kjeldsen and just got some 30/1 each way as don't think that will last long. Second here last year and a solid top ten last week where he seemed to get better as the week went on.

Also really like Chris Wood at the same price 30/1 each way. Top ten here last year, has a decent record on home soil, and must be feeling pretty confident after a solid Ryder Cup debut and nicely rested having had last week off.

Good luck.

Oh sh1t. I thought it was there again this year CryBlush

I don't think you are the only one CCM.  On Sky Sports description for this event they say "Matthew Fitzpatrick was champion here in 2015".  I knew it was Woburn last year and, having never heard of "The Grove", I assumed it was another name for Woburn.
Report saxon farm October 12, 2016 11:24 PM BST
And next year Westwood is hosting. He represents Close House in Northumberland.

Close House, in October for spectating will be marginally more appealing than Test Match Cricket at Durham in May.
Report ian merseyside October 13, 2016 12:01 AM BST
Doesn't look like cricket spectators will have to endure Test matches at Durham for a while, in May or any other month!

Hollinwell (Notts GC) is the best course in The Midlands, not far from Worksop where Lee Westwood was brought up.
Would love to see it there.  Drains beautifully on heathland, plenty of space between holes for spectating. A proper test when I used to play it when standard scratch score could go to 76+.

Faldo won there in the early 80s last time Hollinwell was on European Tour.
Report Can't Catch Me October 13, 2016 7:54 AM BST
Couldn't agree more Saxon. Hollinwell is top class. Annoys me that we have so many good courses in the UK and it all comes down to the same type of Americanised courses who will pay the most money.

Richard anything but Bland

It's been more famine than feast for 43yo Bland - the veteran is yet to win on the European Tour in 397 starts - BUT encouraging are his recent low scores - all in the 60's - with T5 at the European Masters (67,64,69,69) & T5/T7 at the Italian (67,67,65,69) & European (67,67,66) Opens, and posted a pair of 69's last week at St Andrews. Up to #28 in the Tour Rankings, Richard will smash his previous best in the end-of-season rankings: Five times he has finished between 65th and 73rd on the Order of Merit, having  spent 13 years as a yo-yo golfer, bouncing between the Challenge and European Tour.

The Englishman ‘s early season form particularly in Malaysia & China was the start of a superb year. Even with a summer lull nearer home he’s logged no less than 11 top 20 finishes (5 of them in his last 5 starts) and with 6 of them being T10’s - yet a trophy continues to elude on his 14th full season on Tour. Best of Luck TV & Applejack on #398. The good news is that he has given himself another superb opportunity to break the duck. He leads Andrew Beef Johnston and Alex Noren by one swing of the club going into the weekend. Devil

obviously he's a pretty good player
but i've seen him have periods when he can move from the straight and narrow
but as i said the guy can putt

basically made up of non winners

certainly would've been no worse than WW or der germanator in the RC

The tournament was not held from 2009 to 2014 but returned to the schedule in 2015, being played at Woburn and hosted by golfer Ian Poulter, and was won by Matthew Fitzpatrick. The 2016 edition was played at The Grove and hosted by Luke Donald - Alex Norén won. The 2017 tournament hosted by Sir Lee John Westwood which Paul Dunne won at Close House GC.

THE 2018 BRITISH MASTERS takes place at Walton Heath GC for the very first time - OWRG #2 Justin Rose (and former British Masters at Woburn GC in 2002) is your host this year.

HOST to the 1981 RYDER CUP (more on this later), this heathland course has perfect hard and fast fairways, brutal heather & gorse rough and fast greens some protected by deep bunkers.

WELCOME TO ‘MOLI-WOOD’

Close frinds and record-breaking Ryder Cup heroes Tommy Fleetwood and Francesco Molinari are set to reunite at the British Masters.
Fleetwood equaled the record set by Thomas Pieters in 2016 with his four victories, making them the joint most successful European rookies.
The 5-out-of-5 ITALIAN Francesco Molinari aims to make even more history, by securing a unique hat-trick of victories on British soil having already won the BMW PGA Championship and The OPEN Championship in 2018, and if he takes the title at Walton Heath - he will become the first man to win all three tournaments in the same year. MOLI is London-based (at The Wisley) so this is a home game for him. Devil

I think its time to get that back catalog of players you know have game but can't putt for sh!t, the way i am reading this course is that the greens are a massive equalizer, big undulating things making them i suppose a little less "true" than most tour greens.

so get them 200/1, 300/1, 1000/1 shots at the ready i have a feeling there will be a few unfamiliar names up there this week.

can't be too loose off the tee, so my formula is them who can hit fairways and greens but fail at business end, couple of names to start me off being...

Think Eddie did well to get the job done. Never easy front running and just couldn't shake off Bjork who holed a number of lengthy putts to keep on his tail.

Played the last two very well when the heat was really on. Didn't have his best stuff on the weekend but got the job done leading pretty much wire to wire. Two shot win four clear of third and missed a couple of tiddlers on Sunday.

I find eddie refreshing and its good to see his upward trajectory continue.

Great course as well, not the longest but put a premium on accuracy and strategy. Walton Heath and Paris National neither the longest but both showing that the game is more than just bombing it. For all the talk about rolling the ball back a more simple solution is more courses that place a greater premium on accuracy.
