Little confused as to where to go in this one, i always liked it as it brought the shorter hitters into the mix and i was a fan, gave a bit of focus to picking em.
All change this year tho, With the addition of ANOTHER COURSE, which not long has 3 par 5s which are reachable so maybe we will see more of the big hitters well up the leaderboard....

i had a team nion picked out using my own info but am holding off on posting untill i have a proper look at new stuff..

Just one little pointer for you, all these players either live there or regurly use this resort......

Blayne Barber, Jonas Blixt, Scott Brown, Stewart Cink, Brendon De Jonge, Luke Guthrie, Henrik Norlander, Kyle Reifers, Wes Roach, John Rollins, Michael Thompson and Johnson Wagner,Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Jonathan Byrd, Harris English, Lucas Glover, Brian Harman, Charles Howell III, Chris Kirk, Patton Kizzire, Brandt Snedeker, Hudson Swafford and tournament host Davis Love III

ROLL ON 2016.....

The RSM Classic (formerly the McGladrey, November 17th / 20th 2016 on the Seaside & Plantation Courses at Sea Island Golf Club.[/u]

The first two rounds are played over two courses - Seaside & Plantation Courses before all the action moves to the Seaside Course – which allows a full field of 156 players with all six past champions (and a total of seven former major winners) and including all Web dot com grads.
The Seaside Course was the lone venue for the first five editions prior to 2015 plays to a par of 70, stretching out to a mere 7,005 yards. Par 4 scoring is an important metric with 12 par 4s on the layout. The Plantation Course isn’t much longer, at 7,058 yards, but playing to a par of 72.
It's a bit tighter than the RBC Heritage track at Hilton Head, but form there is also well worth considering. It's only a little ways down the coast so it makes sense that it should correlate nicely and it does. Harbour Town (HTGL) joins Copperhead, Bay Hill and Austin Country Club as having been fitted with new Tif Eagle Bermuda grass on its greens last season.

Hometown factor: OPEN Champ Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar are neighbours on St. Simons Island.....The St. Simons’ mafia also includes: Host Davis Love and his son Dru, Hudson Swafford, 2015 Web.com Tour top earner Patton Kizzire and PGA TOUR winners Harris English and Jonathan Byrd.
Players who don’t live full-time here but train at the Sea Island Performance Center: Stewart Cink, former U.S. Open champ Lucas Glover, Brian Harman, Charles Howell III, Chris Kirk and Kyle Reifers.

See Zach Johnson or Lucas Glover hitting balls next to you at the range or bumping into Matt Kuchar or Chris Kirk at dinner is worth the journey.

Was a welcome surprise to dial in the Cody Gribble winner for you but near impossible to punt Rod Pampling and Pat Perez.

Jimmy Furyk @33’s (only 22’s but 7places PP) had a T11 in 2011 & 3rd in 2012 and for some strange reasons hasn’t been back here.
MR 58 is a CERT THIS WEEK. All aboard the Jimmy CHOO CHOO !!!

Obviously suits short hitter Kevin Kisner's game. 40/1 South Carolina native is your RSM Classic 2015 Champion.

Russell Henley 30/1 with T6 & T4 in last two years.

Brandt Snedeker 25/1 shot WON in Fiji. When he turns on the heat, jump on board as he likes Tif Eagle grassed Austin Country Club and T10 at Augusta. The 2011 Heritage champ (posted 64 twice there). His record on seaside courses is impressive and likes a putting contest.

Georgia's 18/1 Chris Kirk is your 2013 Champ - benefited from Briny Baird's painful collapse on the final hole. Only four rounds in the 60s in five attempts at HTGL down the coast doesn’t bode well but form horse with three T10s in his last four starts and has a run of Win-T4-T18 in his last three RSM Classics. He’s a product of the University of Georgia and a native of Georgia. This layout has also hosted the SEC Championship on multiple occasions, so many of those University of Georgia, University of Alabama and University of Florida golfers that populate the PGA TOUR teed it up here in college.

Charles Howell III @35/1. There are courses where he rates and courses where he should be ignored but is on an upward trend right now.

OTHERS I did consider...

Lucas Glover 35/1 is a native South Carolinian getting hot, going T5-3 in his last two starts with his normally frozen putter coming to life but really ups his game when putting on these familiar Bermuda greens. T9 last year and spent several years as a resident of Sea Island.

Jupiter, Florida, resident Luke List finished in a three-way T7 last week in Mexico for a 72-hole total of 16-under 268 with one eagle and 21 birdies versus four bogeys and a triple bogey-7. The 31-year-old List was a 54-hole co-leader two weeks ago before settling for T2, his third top 15 of the season in four events and second top 10.

There’s possibly no better 200/1 hot-shot that knows the course better than JT Poston as he lives in Saint Simons Island. The Western Carolina alum (2015)  finished 10th on the Web.com Tour money list last season, finding the top 10 on four occasions + eight top 25s in 18 starts. His main weapon was approaching the green as he ranked fifth in GIR. Cody was not the worst 100/1 shot in a tournament that had a habit of throwing up first-time winners. 23-year-old JT is in the same ballpark.
http://www.catamountsports.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/jt_poston_755998.html

Matt Kuchar: 18/1 Heritage 2014 winner. Solid weeks (at Valspar and Match Play at Austin CC) on similar layouts with similar Tif Eagle greens. Just one T10 in all five of his trips to this event with the rest inside the T25.

Webb Simpson: 40/1 Lost in a playoff to Graeme McDowell in a stiff breeze in 2013 at HTGL, so he’s proven he can handle tough conditions. Hitting the greens is rarely the problem so he should have plenty of birdie looks this week.

Kyle Stanley: 100/1 Former Clemson Tiger. T7 at the Shriners shooting three 67’s & a 68 for 15under par but forgive MC last wk.
Scott Brown: 150/1 The South Carolina native. WD.
Luke Donald: 150/1. Loves Harbour Town - in the last seven years, he’s hit the PODIUM a whopping FIVE times.
William McGirt: 90/1 resides in Boiling Springs, so this is a home game for him. Hits tons of fairways, greens and makes putts as he excels on shorter tracks.

AND THEN THERE's....

Will Mackenzie: 150/1.
Jamie Lovemark: 80/1 he’s had success at Sony and T9 on St. Simons Island last year.
Bryson Dechambeau: 125/1 A well-rounded game and massive future for this kid. T4 at the Heritage in 2015 with 70, 69, 72, 68.
Billy Horschel: 50/1. 20th in 2011 & 43rd in 2012 was all she wrote. More on him later.
Scott Stallings 200/1
Boo Weekley: 200/1 Twice a winner here and finished T13 or better in five of his first six tries at nearby Hilton Head. Three MC to start his season then got paid last w/end.
250/1 for Brendon De Jonge anyone with two T10’s and 6/6 cuts here
Mark Hubbard: 600/1 2014 Web dot com Tour grad. His only asset has been the flat stick but only a T15 & T19 to show in 2015.
Kyle Reifers: 200/1
Ben Martin: 125/1 South Carolina native plays well at Hilton Head putting his last eight rounds there are all par or better and finished T3 in 2014.
Chris Stroud: 250/1 T6 in 2013 at Hilton Hd in windy conditions.
Stewart Cink: 110/1.
Davis Love III: 300/1 host has won at HTGL five times just down the coast, but enough of that history lesson.
Rory Sabbatini: 300/1.
Willy Nilly HAAS 28/1 was 2nd here in 2010.
Ian Poulter: 150/1 He’s played the weekend five straight at HTGL. IanJamesPoulter 150/1 tweeted “Next week is @TheRSMClassic in Sea Island then a week off, Then Aussie PGA and @UBSHongKongOpen should be a fun few weeks. Game is coming.
Must be an ideal event for 40/1 Zach Johnson as he lives down the street but tends to underperform with 3 MC and only a T12 (2010) in the 6 events here. His 10 week break may have helped but I doubt it.
Bruce Moulder ? form at Heritage 2015.
Ricky Barnes ? form at Heritage 2015.

The 31-year-old List was a 54-hole co-leader two weeks ago before settling for T2, his third top 15 of the season in four events and second top 10. Currently at T60 @-3, was 50/1 now a 100/1 shot.

Brian Dead Harman is currently T139 with +2 as he hacked away on the Seaside course (twice again on the weekend IF he makes it) was a 100/1 shot AND IS NOW 750/1. His last four trips here were MC,41,10th&27th while his current form last 12 events played reads 55,15th,33 Malaysia,mc / 13,24,22,mc,mc,mc,23,8th - only two tops 10's in 2016.
The Georgia Bulldog is one of those players who doesn’t live full-time here but train at the Sea Island Performance Centre. He torched Vegas with 10 birdies on his way to an 8-under-par 30-33=63 in Rd 2 with 6.347 strokes gained putting on the day as his putter caught  fire. Lefty is an excellent putter and was cooking with gas until he ran out to finish -13 and T15. Ranked OWGR #127 Harman is still having a hangover following his break through win at the John Deere Classic in 2014 - won on Bent grass greens though on his third visit shooting -22...he built a comfortable enough lead to hold off Zach Johnson by one shot for his first and only win on TOUR. Perhaps he will get it ALL together soon, after all that ‘training’ and practice this week.

Kevin Chappell's last four visits were 2nd last year (36-hole leader by one but six shots in arrears to champion Kevin Kisner), then 8th (T8 thru 36 holes),  32nd (T2 thru 36 holes) & 43rd on debut four years ago. Opened with a 6under 64 on the Seaside track this week. At #28 in the OWGR, UCLA’s Chappell is the third highest-ranked player this week. The 30-year-old co-lead into final round of the TOUR Championship with Dustbin to eventually be matched by Ryan Moore and Rory McIlroy (who tied for the week's best rounds with 64s), but was then eliminated on the first hole of sudden death. Chappell’s disease can be called seconditis - four seconds (now six career runner-ups) in a career-best of eighth T10s last season – he is still chasing his first win in his 170th event but finished 8th in the final FedEx Cup standings. 28/1 now into 9’s fav. Kev, watch out for that CHOO CHOO.

Hoping for some advice as I am not sure of the ability of Hughes to stay the distance. I have laid him at 4.78 when he was cruising. His triple bogey had me in a too contented situation and should have covered my stake at that stage but did not. He has arrived back as a strong 2nd fav now. My inclination is to stand the bet but would appreciate some guidance. Am watching to see if Jim Fuyrk gets on a roll.

AND THEN THERE's....
Billy Horschel: 50/1. 20th in 2011 & 43rd in 2012 was all she wrote. More on him later.

Better late(r) than never...

Billy Horschel - The 2014 BMW Championship winner (Cherry Hills CC) and 2014 FedEx Cup champion finished last season with just two T10s in 28 starts and a season-best 3rd at the Valero in April 2015. Horschel made the Shriners Open his first start of the 2016-17 season. Billy had been idle for 8 weeks since a T10 at the BMW Championship. He opened the Playoffs with T13 at The Barclays but MC the week prior at the Deutsche Bank. It was his third top-15 finish in his last four events of last season but exited the Playoffs at 50th in the FedEx Cup standings, the second straight season he failed to return to the TOUR Championship.

The 29-year-old Florida Gator, making his first appearance at TPC Summerlin since a missed cut (by three) in 2015 and also finished T16 during his rookie season in 2011, torched the course during round one, stringing together a bogey-free, 7-under-par 31-33=64. Playing his seventh round that marked a new low at TPC Summerlin. While Horschel was making his 2016-17 debut he later showed signs of rust to finish 71, 70, 71 for a T41. Still rusty in Mexico with MC 70, 71.

Billy showed up to the Shriners with a new PXG fairway wood and Gunboat H putter. At least he has something to blame for that tiddlier in the 5-way play-off ! Ryan Moore was the first PXG staffer to test and put the fairway wood in play during the Ryder Cup. Other players currently using the prototype include Chris Kirk, Charles Howell III and James Hahn. Horschel's recent trip to PXG's headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, also produced a new putter to open the 2016-17 TOUR season. He swapped his PXG Mustang putter for a mallet-style putter, the Gunboat H, after putting it through practice sessions and speaking with Charles Howell III, who currently uses the same head model. While Horschel finished T41 in Vegas, he had a solid week on the greens, ranking T13 in strokes gained: putting (plus 3.779). Billy's short-game is improving after plenty of work with coach Todd Anderson - a 2nd Round 66 at Harbour Town (T54) proves he’s a solid wind player although two 74’s & a 76 are best ignored as it may not be to his liking.

Billy Horschel OWGR #76 holds the Tournament record -20 at the ZURICH CLASSIC in TPC Louisiana, Avondale, Louisiana where he won his maiden title in 2013. I’d wait for the Valero, Memorial or St. Jude for his light to shine again. Maybe that's why he was 50’s with Sky or 33’s 7pls with PP.

Fair play to MacKenzie, wire to wire as a rookie and drains the longest putt in the playoff.  Worthy winner.

Previously residing in the Sea Island area and making three previous appearances (45,MC,32) Brandt Rusty Snedeker returns from a 20 week layoff due to injury since the Travelers Championship in June. Also re-worked his swing so lots of question marks after his name. AVOID.

does anyone else think this is a tournament for racist white men- there is a conspicuous lack of players like Harold Varner III and Tony Finau- who no doubt would feel uncomfortable playing on the "plantation" course.

I notice all the players who the commentators say have moved to this part of Georgia are White as well.

Going well again Devil
Looks like that Plantation Course is playing a few shots easier.

I find cmiyc posts informative keep them up mate.

Interesting final round ahead. Cook never won before but got a nice edge, played very well last night but got a bit edgy towards the end. Be interesting to see if the winds get up how it effects scoring.
