Bizarre one, this.

A niche financial website run by someone who specialises in mergers and takeovers claims #nufc close to being sold to US consortium.

their profile fits with folk who might want to buy that bit of land that used to
belong to nufc...that is ripe for development...

anyway, ..sol will know.

RARE ALERT: Mike Ashley said to...
Tuesday, 13 November 2018, 9:26 pm

This is a story that's been going backwards and forwards for the last couple of years. And no, Betaville isn't referring to the dreaded Brexit. It's the potential sale of Newcastle United Football Club by its billionaire owner Mike Ashley.

Ashley, founder of London-listed retailer Sports Direct, rekinkled sale talks eighteen months or so ago and even since then buyers, such as dealmaker Amanda Staveley, have come and gone (often via the sports pages of British newspapers).

But now Betaville hears from usually reliable sources the maverick entrepreneur has been over in the US putting the finishing touches to a deal to sell the business to a mystery consortium of investors.

It's not clear who the buyers for are but the fact that Ashley was over in America to finalize the details implies that perhaps the purchasers for the Premier League club are from that part of the world.

In fact, it was former Telegraph colleague and City Editor of Sky News, Mark Kleinman, who wrote a month and half ago that Peter Kenyon - former chief executive of Manchester United and Chelsea - and Rockefeller Capital Management, led by Wall Street financier Greg Fleming, were circling the club. Below is the link:

https://news.sky.com/story/sky-sources-former-manchester-united-and-chelsea-chief-peter-kenyon-plots-newcastle-takeover-11512071

How much Ashley sells for remains to be seen but he was previously reported to want £400 million for Newcastle United.

Now Betaville is a football fan but as an avid City and deals watcher I'm almost more intrigued by what Ashley plans to do with the cash injection from the Newcastle United sale. Remember, the statement Ashley put out on the RNS a couple months ago, accusing the City of "stabbing him and the company in the back"? In case not, I have pasted the link:

https://www.investegate.co.uk/sports-direct-intl---spd-/rns/statement-by-mike-ashley/201809141230018275A/

So, with Sports Direct shares now languishing at 287p what odds would you give on Ashley, still the majority owner of Sports Direct, having a crack at taking the company in 2019?

To be clear, this story is RARE of the RAREST kind! For readers unfamiliar with the RARE concept I will define it below.

RARE: Market gossip that has been tested with some of Betaville's usually well-informed sources. In fact, Betaville might have spent several days or weeks working on this story. However, the rumour hasn't been tested through all formal journalistic channels (public relations executives, bankers etc). The scuttlebutt could be total codswallop but then again there may be something in it, so it's worth airing on Betaville.

i cant see anybody taking hof...not soon anyway.

tesco were sniffing around for shop....but pulled out due to cost and
store was let to wilco instead.

problem with hof for food use is it doesnt have its own car park which
seems a vital for supermeerkats.

asda had red anchor and metrocentre wouldnt give them exclusive
use of red carpark, so they built next door. leading to extension and
debenhams being built....at cost of new bus station tagged on by
john prescot as a planning consideration

fcb owns that huge shop next to asda, and 30% of debenhams and
likely takeover there too. so he can easy move hof into that space
even if he doesnt transfer the name.

Fooking Darts Scandal hits the front pages LaughLaugh

Some athletes blame poor performances on the state of the pitch. Others blame it on tactics, or perhaps just a bad day at the office.

But blaming your opponent for farting is definitely a new one.

Yet that's exactly what happened at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton, with both Gary Anderson and Wesley Harms denying responsibility for the "rotten egg smells".

Two-time Scottish world champion Anderson, 47, won Friday's match 10-2 to progress to the quarter-finals, but Dutchman Harms, 34, was quick to explain his sub-standard performance by accusing Anderson of leaving a "fragrant smell".

He told Dutch TV station RTL7L: "It'll take me two nights to lose this smell from my nose."

World number four Anderson was not best pleased by the accusation, saying the smell had definitely come "from the table side" at the Aldersley Leisure Village.

"If the boy thinks I've farted he's 1010% wrong. I swear on my children's lives that it was not my fault," he said.

"I had a bad stomach once on stage before and admitted it. So I'm not going to lie about farting on stage.

"Every time I walked past there was a waft of rotten eggs so that's why I was thinking it was him.

"It was bad. It was a stink, then he started to play better and I thought he must have needed to get some wind out.

"If somebody has done that they need to see a doctor. Seemingly he says it was me but I would admit it."
