I cant help keep going back to the pundits, not one really wants to say it do they?, not in the right way. Sky show stats time and tine again ref different things, they could really put up some real damaging stuff ref AW and the last 6/7 yrs,  would like to know for eg they talk about the overall win rate at over 50% but is that the case over last 6yrs and then there is the results against the top 5  first 10 yrs to last 10 comparison.
I also think he,l stay btw, more of the same shyte for a while, and ref some of those players mentioned form wise, not been impressed with Bellerin either, Ramsey been awful since coming back, Giroud is becoming a stinker, Xhaka had a world class price tag, fcuk that is he, Mustafi the same, both in first season but cant see them becoming AFC legends, I could go on but sod it

Report jon b March 20, 2017 3:51 PM GMT
Hopefully he is not as deluded as some people are thinking but if he stays for one or more years nothing can possibly improve in that time, he doesn't find the right players anymore, of the rest most need a proper kick up the arsenal and he aint the man for that as proven, so what can he possibly achieve in the next 2 yrs he hasn,t in the last 4/5, the only thing that will happen is we,l fall even further behind the others, his so called strategy, philosophy etc regarding the game obv doesn,t work, the switch to a bunch of technically gifted players rather than a balance of both that and a few rugged stronger no thrills types has proven to be flawed, he isn,t gonna change that in one or 2 seasons. Time to put ya feet up and enjoy retirement and give someone else a crack at a great job

A new manager and a mass clear out, give some new exiting blood a go and add accordingly with money raised and the reserves we already have, we need to evolve again with a whole new approach, Wengers is dated now and has many flaws, proven time and time again to be weak against the big teams and now struggling on a reg basis against the likes of Stoke, West Brom,s and Southamptons of the Prem League.

Lukas Podolski believes Arsenal will find it very difficult to replace Arsene Wenger if the Frenchman leaves at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old, who scored a sensational goal against England in his final game for Germany on Wednesday, now plays for Galatasaray but spent three seasons at Arsenal working under Wenger.

And he admits he is baffled by the Gunners' recent downturn in form, which has led to increasingly loud calls for Wenger to step down from the position he has held since September 1996.
Report ghostlygunner March 23, 2017 9:33 AM GMT
how would that make us the best in the world though?

domestically of course , though us and united traded blows for a while fairly evenly

and i do believe we had the best players , half the french world cup winning side plus bergkamp , a strong english back line etc

but do you think anyone in spain at the time or italy or germany would have looked at us and thought we were the best in the world , no

not without any european trophy at all , even in the glory years ?

mind you id swap the current laughing stock for even being top dogs domestically again Cry

We certainly were not favs to win that final but we did have the best striker in the world at that time which gave us all real hope we could lift the trophy, things went against us on the night late on, on another night TH14 who had 2 one on ones would of won us that elusive trophy, yes that would of been superb 10 yrs ago, but the problems we have right now would still be the same. We haven,t competed since at the top level in Europe or the League, 3 titles is again good but that should of been 5 minimum or even 6, we gave a massive lead away one season for sure and I'm sure we bottled one or even 2 more. The back line inherited was massive for Wenger early on also the French connection, where is that connection now, who,s the last world class Frenchman he bought, please don't say Giroud, 2 have been brought to the Prem, Kante, Payet, proper French talent found by lesser clubs than AFC, that real connection gone and he is guessing all over the place and the only 2 real players it could be argued he bought recently ie Sanchez and Ozil were almost forced out of their previous clubs and didn,t really fancy us, Sanchez is a real pro who plays the game 110% and has given us plenty to be happy about but the other one Ozil I think people,s opinions will differ, for me a big show pony ponce who has a super touch but no fight or leadership skills and def shirks the challenge of a big game, he can jog on as far as I care, I think the writings on the wall there already with him judging by recent weeks. AW hasn,t actually found a gem in years has he, he,s def bought a few duds though, he,l never admit that, he,l defend average players and even big them up, a few of these players will struggle to play in any top team outside our club, for eg who comes knocking for Theo every season, no-one does, Ramsey er no-one does, Giroud ?? err no-one interested, we could go on.

The should he stay/go debate is a media obsession - they don't seem to realise that the club does what it wants regarding the manager and will always do so based on a purely commercial basis. in the decade before wenger we won the league twice and top 4 twice, ie 4 top 4 times in 10 years. and that's when there was no difference between 4th and 5th, so nothing to play for in going for 4th.

Philosophy is no more, unless having a glaring weakness down the spine of the team and being vulnerable to the counter-attack and physically strong teams for 12 consecutive years is some sort of philosophy. The philosophy is to play better than 16 teams in the league so that you can attract top talent that the rest can't and maintain that position, nothing more.

george also won the league cup and a european trophy

there is NO trophy wenger has won that george didnt , although to be fair the style of football was better under wenger

much better to compare what george walked into when he took over (an utter shambles) than when wenger arrived and we were already winning trophies.

In the 8 completed seasons of GG Arsenal were actually Top 4 six times i think , and went very far in both cups in the other 2 seasons they finished below 4th.

I do think Arsenal were the best team in Europe in 2004 , that was the season they really should have won it.

At the time i actually blamed Wenger for that , though hard to be too critical when he completes an  invincible season.

Before the Last 16 game the Celta Vigo boss said something like he would need 14 players on the pitch to have a chance of beating Arsenal , so there was a real sense that teams around Europe were in awe of Arsenal at that point . It's the sort of thing people say about Barca in recent years...

Then Wenger in late March suddenly started whingeing about there being too may games and the difficulty of the schedule , and he'd have to rest players . I think this sort of talk encouraged Chelsea for that quarter final . If you have an aura of invincibility then you should play that up , not talk it down.

And even more i think Fergie used it for the FA Cup Semi . I think that game tends to be forgotten but was important then and  for what happened afterwards . It was a chance to get another double and establish some dominance over United who were big underdogs , but Wenger moaned about how difficult it all was , rested players while Fergie had his team fired up . United winning that gave his players the belief to end the 49 game run a few months later.
Report Wesdag March 23, 2017 6:41 PM GMT
Correct tobermory.

It was from that moment, April 2004, that I knew Wenger was a bottler.

All that talk about tiredness & resting players gave the opposition a lift.

A manager with Fergie's winning mentality would've driven his players on & won the treble that season.

Btw, although a big achievement to go the season unbeaten, only ONE EPL trophy is given out for that.

the only way the club will ditch the manager is if the fans decide not to turn up

Which they won't do

40,000 have paid in advance

And the season tickets holders who don't want to go will easily sell the tickets to somebody who hardly ever goes

And if so is ticketholders don't renew there will always be somebody else to replace them

The club have this all tied up very nicely

A mate of mine is a ticket holder and he put his up when we were 4-1 down away at Munich on some sort of selling site, it went inside 5 mins he said, people willing to go to watch a dead rubber in an instant, these people and others like the Smiley,s  etc are why he will still be in charge, he could get us relegated and nothing would change attitude wise. The small protests that have been almost pointless in the grand scheme will gather a slow momentum next season again but nowt will change until an owner that wants to win trophies like Roman does takes over, that isn,t happening any time soon is it. More of the same shyte next season ensures and the likes of Pixie and Smilet will keep reminiscing about the glory days over a decade ago

im not as convinced as some of you that the demand will be there , we simply wont be a big draw next season and the europa league games in particular will be hugely embarrassing for the club as they wont reduce prices i wouldnt think

this support will erode over time and i know loads that wont renew if he signs a new deal

the tourists that take these tickets will be ok for the odd game but they are not long term fans

i still believe he ll be gone by xmas whether he signs this contract or not

If he signs a new contract he will honour it

kroenke and wenger can exist in their own parallel universe but this is not going away

he probably has already signed it but theyre just **** scared to announce it

rumour is gazidis has quit as he is embarrassed wenger hasnt gone ,  as he had told media that ultimately the fans would decide wengers future and theyve gone back on that big style

this wont go away it is irreversible

there will be a protest at  every game now til he goes whether that be this season or next

he will have no chance to honour another contract because if things start going belly up (and they will) kroenke will sell and no other owner would put up with wengers failure on the pitch

Discontent & unrest from the fans will be another entry to Wenger's growing list of excuses as to why he's forgotten how to manage.
