surely Ady Lewis won't be in. The winner of Jamie Lewis and webster must have more chance assuming they don't get absolutely spanked in the semis. Van Den Bergh would get in too if he was to beat Cross. Probably won't.
MVG
Anderson
Wright
Barney
Gurney
Cross
Suljovic
Chisnall
Michael Smith
Jamie Lewis or Price.

Seven 100% nailed on:

MVG
RVB
Wright
Anderson
Gurney
Cross
Mensur

You already have three debutants in there. I reckon they only have room for one more debutant and I suspect thats Price given his aggressive personality as much as anything else. He gets trumped by Jamie Lewis if Lewis ends Taylor's career.

And then you have two spots left for the old guard. Perm any two from:

Adie
Chizzy
Wade
Bully Boy

FWIW I don't see Dimitr with any chance whatsoever let alone a cert. He's so far down the rankings that a quarter final just isn't good enough to even have him in the conversation.

I think Adie survives. As for the tenth I really can't make a case for any of them.

Wow, I agree with what the guy above said three times. He must be really smart...
Report asparagus December 30, 2017 8:08 AM GMT
On the assumptions that Cross loses to MVG in the semis tonight and Taylor goes through with his retirement I believe Chizzy will be ranked 6 in the world so hard to see him being left out. Surely easier to justify than Adie Lewis who will be outside the top 20. Don't think they will want Wade either.
2 out of Michael Smith, Price and Jamie Lewis get in.
Report thedodgepot December 30, 2017 11:08 AM GMT
I'll be fuming if the likes of Wade and Chizzy get the nod.  They've both had poor seasons and between them have absolutely no character and bring nothing to the party.  I'd like Gerwyn Price to get a gig. He'd stir up a few players during the tournament.

For me,

MVG
Anderson
Wright
Cross
Gurney
Barney
Mensur (although I find him boring to watch)

Above 7 certs

Price
Aussie Cadby (entertainment reasons again )
Welsh Lewis if he reaches final or old Lewis if not. Adie still capable and had excuses.
Report asparagus December 30, 2017 11:52 AM GMT
Adie had two shocking seasons. Missing a couple of tournaments is not a good enough excuse and don't forget that he will have benefitted from his high seedings with relatively easier draws over these 2 years. I quite like the guy but he certainly doesn't deserve a place.
Report alun2005 December 30, 2017 10:55 PM GMT
I reckon there's an outstanding candidate for the PL, shamefully overlooked here and for far too long.

Step forward Mr Ronald 'The Rocket' Baxter.

In fact, give him TWO places in the line-up, so that when Baxter Number 1 inevitably f**** it all up, his many supporters will cheer him on for a second go.

He was responsible for MANY A SEETHE for punters on here back in the day.

I commend it to the House.

Report rob999 January 1, 2018 7:42 PM GMT
I can't see how Jamie Lewis is even close to the conversation. Much like Dimitri. You can't get in on the back of one tournament if your ranking is as low as their's unless you win it or maybe make the final.

I agree that Price is now a certainty which gives you eight certainties. Stick a pin in to guess the other two. It won't please many but my best guess is Chizzy and Adie given we already have four new names in.

Report the_don January 1, 2018 7:59 PM GMT
Adie Lewis will get in I reckon (i did mean him in the 1st post, not Jamie Lewis). Still a big fan favourite especially with Taylor not being there.

Price has done himself no harm with his performance v MVG, Smith may have edged out Chizzy if their Worlds performances are anything to judge by.

MVG, Barney, Anderson, Wright, Mensur, Cross, Burney
Lewis, Price, M Smith.

(Ronnie Baxter, Dennis Ovens and Kirk Shepherd better luck next year)

'Horizontally upwards' selections Mischief

TBH the players seem a bit bored of the massively overhyped PL. Anderson can't even be bothered in the early games.
Report theres only one best tonic January 2, 2018 12:21 PM GMT
It needs a revamp. I would cut it back to 8 players and play each week as a mini UK Open with points awarded like 10 for winning 6 for runner up 4 for losing semi finalists and 1 point for losing the first game. All games best of 11 like they do on the pro tour and eventually the final table will produce the final 4 for finals night
Report the_don January 2, 2018 5:08 PM GMT
Not a bad idea.

I don't like the way players can draw matches - don't see it in any other tournament and everyone wants a winner and a loser don't they? Do a bull off and sudden death leg at 5-5 or something else.
Report wisewords January 2, 2018 6:47 PM GMT
yeah the draws really need to go.
Report n88uk January 2, 2018 10:56 PM GMT
Premier League has same vibe for me every year, tune in first few weeks, then not care for about the next 10 until finals night. Maybe new field will help as feel it's got a bit stale in past years with same fields with similar end result each time.

Think they should start doing more European legs tbh, surprised they don't have more legs in Holland given number of tickets they sell there. Belgium seems prime place to get a leg in too. You've only got 2 English players in this year but still like 9 of the legs are in England which seems too many.
Report CLYDEBANK29 January 2, 2018 11:01 PM GMT
