At Worcester.

Can a few of you please help me pester BetFair to put a market up?

Likewise the 4-day tour match betwixt Surrey and West Indies A on the same day:-

http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/18699/game/1145675/surrey-vs-west-indies-a-tour-match-west-indies-a-tour-of-england-2018

BetFair have offered these markets before, but not automatically.

Turns out that on 10th July there is also the second of two unofficial Tests between West Indies and India A Teams:-

http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/18699/game/1145671/india-a-vs-west-indies-a-2nd-unofficial-test-west-indies-a-tour-of-england-2018

I've requested all three. If a few of us keep asking we may get these kinds of markets regularly. I can't see the liquidity being any worse than the 4-day County matches, as long as there's a reasonable source of score updates.

Nobody spotted there was a Bang A vs Sri Lanka A unoff Test, nor even an under 19s Test!

But at least we now have a crack at India A vs West Indies A.
Report VardonVoo. July 14, 2018 8:20 PM BST
Made a handy few quid from that one. You can't trade these like a normal Test match, cos you can't guarantee getting out of a position at a fair price, but there are opportunities over 4 days that simply don't arise in limited overs games.

Two more of these on the 16th if BF plays ball.

I've also asked for the 2nd Under 19s Test match starting on the same day. I know quite a few of you had some sccesun with the U19 day-matches last year.

Lions v India A market is up, folks -YAY!!!
Report VardonVoo. July 16, 2018 4:06 PM BST
5-Live Sports Extra are covering this (mostly).

Pitch disappointingly docile so far. Has been used before so playing more like a Day Two pitch.

Is no-one else on this? Looked like a draw train but odds on draw have been quite choppy. This morning they've been as low as 1.16 in volume then back to evens. Follow-on not enforced so there's even a slight possibility of a Lions collapse and India chasing a getable target.
Report detraveller July 18, 2018 3:54 PM BST
I have been monitoring the odds. Draw went as low as 1.2 I think? Maybe i'll put up some bets on such games next week onwards.
Report detraveller July 18, 2018 4:26 PM BST
OkVV, can you bring me up to speed on the sussex game?
Report detraveller July 18, 2018 4:27 PM BST
Sussex to chase 250+ it seems and are 1.4. Why?
Report detraveller July 18, 2018 4:42 PM BST
Sorry, lookinga t the wrong team. Thank goodness I didn't bet.
Report VardonVoo. July 18, 2018 5:04 PM BST
£1,000+ traded at 1.16. As I said, these illiquid games are tricky when trying to get out. If you simply back good odds and wait you'll often get presented with opportunities but you usually can't force things without giving value away.

I'm a bit stuck in this one. I was hoping the f/o would be enforced. Probably gong to level out red if a couple of wickets fall quickly. Sold my decent Lions green overnight but didn't get it back on before wickets tumbled. My bad.

Sussex game has gone much more to plan.

Tried to lay India A om monday, nothing was being matched so I gave up but I did work £30 on 3 outcomes Gloucs v Sussex.
Report detraveller July 19, 2018 11:19 AM BST
So i done my nuts laying Eng at 1.2. Ind lose a wixket and Eng at 1.08. I cash out losing half my stake. Ind hit two boundaries and are back to 1.2. Kiss my arse.
Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 2:03 PM BST
Got £4.91 on all outcomes inc commision. YAY   My exact bets were £100 lay of Eng 1.05 then £2 win on Eng at 1.05  1.06 followed by £424 on England at 1.05 then £333.36 lay of Eng at 1.03.......

I feel bad that I made £9 on the Lions in the end even though it wasn't yours (cos my trades were overnight).

£100+ coming from the Gloucs game. Not going to do more than just micro-fiddle now.

Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 3:05 PM BST
Currently got £45.74 green on Gloucs £16.15 red on Sussex and £14.34 red on Draw  .....that would be typical levels on these thin markets.
Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 3:07 PM BST
and that sussex red might be my final outcome after another wicket. Sad
Report VardonVoo. July 19, 2018 3:10 PM BST
Wouldn't you normally level up a bit more if it was the final day of a Test?
Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 3:11 PM BST
i look for at least a £500 win on tests, would never contemplate that on a county game
Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 3:13 PM BST
I will level up if we see 1.3ish on Gloucs again
Report VardonVoo. July 19, 2018 3:16 PM BST
But you normally get 8 County games going on at once, so a few small trades can add up.

How much do you aim to make from T20s and One-Dayers?

Made £353 on the 1 dayer on tuesday, about that in white ball internationals

Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 3:22 PM BST
I think Gloucs are going to win this now but could be a lot of drama before we get there.
Report VardonVoo. July 19, 2018 3:27 PM BST
Do you make that kind of profit consistently on limited overs though? Or is it more a symmetrical big win vs big loss swings-and-roundabouts scenario?

SA v Sri Lanka Draw has been quite active either side of 5.0 over the last day or two. Your Eminence's preferred kind of tick-nicking paradise, methinx.
Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 3:31 PM BST
That would be about my target but can be higher or lower and if it goes wrong can be a 1.5K loss
Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 3:32 PM BST
Bloody 5 Live Xtra left the game so we can only tune in now on-line with an accompanying delay SadCry
Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 3:38 PM BST
That is my greening  order at 1.32 Gloucs I hope we get there and if it doesn't so be it.
Report VardonVoo. July 19, 2018 3:41 PM BST
Broadcast feed is really good for cancelling trades within the countdown. Occasionally succeeded in getting bets on too.

I downloaded my P&L to a spreadsheet this week. My profits are by far dominated by Tests, followed quite a way behind by County games (but I've yet to separatd out the 4-dayers from the rest). On everything else I'm either breaking even or making a small loss, although my tennis trading is showing a small but promising improvement. No Specials in the quarter but usually do well on Big Bro, Celeb BB and I'm A Celeb GMooH.

Report VardonVoo. July 19, 2018 3:48 PM BST
My concern is that Tests are dwindling in number at an alarming rate, whereas there are loads of 4-day series, especially in Asia with potentially reasonable liquidity if only we could get BF to put the markets up.

My reason to prefer longer formats is to avoid or reduce down the risk of such big losses whist preserving/enhancing big gains.

Report Cardinal Scott July 19, 2018 4:13 PM BST
Same here though I have been losing in recent tests after 1.5K green on that NZ Eng 2nd test

Superficially looks like Gloucs have blown this.

BBC Cricket has ball by ball commentary of every county game on-line (with delay)  and sometimesn FiveLive Xtra (without delay)

Report stokergoinup July 21, 2018 12:03 AM BST
I was quite impressed with the liquidity in the Gloucs/Sussex match as I've never got involved in a non televised county game.Is this the norm or was there higher volumes matched as it was the only game compared to this Sunday when 9 matches take place?
Report Richie_Burnett July 21, 2018 1:00 AM BST
It's hard enough with visuals, seems like betting for the sake of it to me. Some unknown players, conditions unknown and poor liquidity seems like a recipe for disaster in the long run imo.
Report Richie_Burnett July 21, 2018 1:02 AM BST
BF should offer some concessions on commission and stream it live (even if only the old school 1 camera filming both ends) to encourage liquidity.
Report jucel69 July 21, 2018 2:57 AM BST
BF should get into production!! People will bet on any old sh1te as long as they can watch it.
Cricket even more so because of the Indian factor.
Once those Indians can watch it on the idiot box they will be punting their bollox off.
Could be a good idea for young entrepreneurs to work with BF and televise as much cricket as possible
Report jucel69 July 21, 2018 3:04 AM BST
If some gypo lived close to the ground in a squat and was televising it from an old Nokia, it would still increase the liquidity
