not very intelligent laying 10 an over in the last 7 overs.

THANK Rashid for serving up a 25 run over near the end there.

Bit after time saying that’s not the way they play it but it isn’t!
Adore this top 3: all of them almost always score fast and often express. You can get them out but if you don’t, good luck keeping the run avalanche at bay.

I am hoping there is a twist in this game.
Just enough runs to get that there could be but don’t think this Aus attack has the firepower really. Having traded this for small money as didn’t really trust Aus batting abs certainly wasn’t backing England’s bowling on a good deck, I’m not going green now anyway. In fact, my trades have been very good, just not adding up to a big win. Did have another toss win of near £1.5k. People seem to want to back England at 1.98.

Australia can turn things around quickly, they have done it before

Yes they will. But interesting to see how they build up to the world cup with the cheaters back. Will they play them in the world cup?
I would imagine that the ban will be served and they’ll then return. You can’t really ban someone for a year then still not pick them for the same offence.
They’ve done this very well so far: savage the bowling initially then slow down a bit but still keep consistently scoring above the current RRR to take the pressure off even for the quieter over and play the odd big shot still to the right ball.

Aus batted stupidly slow and still got to 310 with a bad finish.

Seriously, what do we do when Stokes is back? At the moment I think we stick with the current batting and leave him out. Seems impossible to credit, especially given that he’s an extra bowling option and an outstanding fielder but dropping any of Bairstow, Roy and Hales would be on crack. I’d be tempted to lose Root, oddly but he’s great insurance against early wickets, especially chasing non massive totals.
Since Root is a handy spinner Moeen might come under the microscope. Woakes too to come back

Woakes in for a bowler, obviously.
I wouldn’t dream of playing Stokes ahead of Ali. In the lower middle order hitter role Ali is our best option over Stokes or anyone else you demote and he’s a more reliable and much less injury prone bowler too. He’s been very good with the ball recently and is pretty economical by modern standards. It wouldn’t be terrible to have Root and Stokes be your fifth bowler but I see essentially no upside in weakening your attack by leaving Ali out.

Slap up McNugget?
I’ve just had probably my biggest day ever. Don’t keep proper records but can’t recall a £5.5k day before. Toss and match odds here and a whole series of winning football bets, including thousands on Argentina Croatia, with a very decent slice of my bank at stake, which I didn’t even watch much of because of children and cricket. I’m celebrating with a quiet sit down and contemplate.
