Amazing decision but puts England in a strong position. Just need Marsh now and they are home.
Report BJT January 21, 2018 9:53 AM GMT
Only person that couldn't see it on the ground was the 3rd umpire.   Absolutely stupid.

The full face of the ball was on the ground.  Only need a blade of grass.

there doesn't, the soft call was out, if the soft call was not out there needs to be concetre proof which there wasnt

Report GRANTCKING January 21, 2018 9:57 AM GMT
umpires must have insane eyes to give it out on the field Laugh he was just guessing
Report BJT January 21, 2018 9:58 AM GMT
Why are they even giving a soft call?  If they thought it was out, they would have just given it.  They went upstairs because they didn't know.

The whole thing is ridiculous.  The 3rd umpire gives more howlers than the live umpires.
Report sageform January 21, 2018 9:59 AM GMT
Can't see how those camera shots were any help at all. They need a side on shot to over rule the on field umpire at square leg who had the best view.

Had 5 minutes to trade out to stay green there, and didn't feel I needed to.  Have the radio going and the tv, and all agreed it was no way in hell going to be given out as it was on the ground.

So much money just got burnt there....  Interested to see how much was matched there while waiting for that decision.
Report sageform January 21, 2018 10:03 AM GMT
The camera that showed Bairstow there would have given a much better angle on the catch. Why on earth was that not used?
Report Charlie January 21, 2018 10:04 AM GMT
Without DRS the umpire would have given it out so can't see what all the fuss is about.

Comms here were saying they need concrete evidence that it 100% was not out to over rule, so they thought it wouldn't be overturned.

equally ridiculous to make Aus fav again after just 2 boundaries. Stoinis is the key as he will just keep hitting.

But they always give a soft signal that's the way it works.
Report Angela Rebecchi January 21, 2018 10:07 AM GMT
Longer it took the much more likely it was to be given out as meant there was no footage showing concrete evidence of NOT OUT.

Doing okay this game with Aus lays last night for prices I couldn’t really believe but if I’d been awake to buy England on wickets then lay off and done the same with Aus (which I have a bit but not for much of my green), could have been winning billions.

That was posh Hitchin, obviously.

I would actually like this to go to the final over, even though my green is mostly on England. I’d like one more trade laying Aus under evens so I can have the chance of losing money.

Utterly Braindead batting & captaincy in putting that mug out there
Report cricketnut2 January 21, 2018 11:02 AM GMT
Watching Australia, is like watching an old England side play odi cricket. Their biggest problem, is that they don't move between the wickets as quick as the England batsmen do. England have more power players and their bowling is better, we have come a long way in quick time.
Report Fatslogger January 21, 2018 11:02 AM GMT

Paine was a terrible drag on that chase, wasn't he?  Fine, hold things together if the guy at the other end is chasing them down (Root is a master of this) but you can't be less than a run a ball when the chase gets up to 8s.

I agree really. Which of the one day specialists do you think might spice up the test side? Wood is obvious but would Morgan make the best test captain if he wanted it?

Would touch Morgan for test cricket again and wouldn't have done even when he was actually scoring well in ODI cricket.  I quite fancy Roy but he's got a bad habit of throwing away a start in the FC game, as well as limited overs.  I'd also be tempted to look at Hales again in the middle order.  Three is probably too high for him but makes more sense than opener and he's certainly better than Vince.

Report Fatslogger January 21, 2018 11:34 AM GMT
That was wouldn't touch Morgan.
Report geordie1956 January 21, 2018 8:57 PM GMT
I'd take 2-2 in the Ashes and lose the 1 day cricket 5-0 but it seems the shorter versions of the game currently take precedence with the ECB
Report mafeking January 21, 2018 9:34 PM GMT
better get to used to 1 df
Report mafeking January 21, 2018 9:35 PM GMT
better get used to 1 day cricket taking precedence for the next 18 months and so it should do with a home world cup coming up which england are clear favourites to win
