Weather looks good. Talk of it being spin friendly. Looks like Agar will get a game. Starc still uncertain.

I expect a result after perhaps substantial first innings scores, and England's lack of a top class spinner doesn't bode well for them.

A draw back to lay then an Aus back I think.

Someone with fat fingers who meant to put it up on the draw or England?

People using bf to transfer money. You see it quite a lot.

as i said on another thread,i usually place bet either back or lay then let it ride...ive been told if i ask nicely someone might talk me through some trades...heres hoping.
Report pxb January 3, 2018 12:57 AM GMT
SoS, I'm not really clear what it is you want.

If it is to learn about trading, then the basic principle of trading is predicting how a market will move over some timeframe. A Test preplay moves according to the weather forecast and time (and team news, etc). In this match there won't be much rain and I don't expect that to change. So as the forecast of not much rain gets closer, draw will drift as people get more confident the forecast is accurate, all else being equal. So I have layed the draw and backed it a few ticks higher. The draw has been quite volatile for no good reason, as is sometimes the case, and I have layed and backed it 3 times so far.

Draw is close to the lows, which may be due to predictions for the pitch. I'll look at that today.

I'll close out the last draw trade before start of play.

I was talking about the SAF India match. Draw went up to 4,4 and I covered almost all my draw lays.

final ashes test is here, still angry at how england have played but hey-ho they avoided the 5-0
anyone seen the pitch yet?
Starc starts according to the usual cricket sites so i dont want to be opposing him opening the bowling
root has said pitch could turn straight away as it looks dry enough so hopefully Crane will bowl well, and im sure Lyon will
same old thoughts of how do england take the 20 wickets
weather looks good, day 5 worth keeping an eye on as some showers predicted
will be looking to lay draw but maybe that weather will hold the price down so a boring wait and see for me
let the test marathon begin
GL all

To last the night I will need 1 mug of coffee every hour beginning now!

Having scrutinised past tests here I notice even mediocre sides can make runs here 1st innings.......... Lanka 294, Windies 330, Pakistan 315, India better than those 3 made 475....Only Eng last time got skittled.... I also notice spinners can take wickets 1st innings.
Report Cardinal Scott January 3, 2018 9:49 PM GMT

Not many Test Matches that aren't interrupted end in a draw, however it is easier to bat in the first innings and if you could trust England to get 400 in their first innings the draw will trade a lot shorter by Day 3, however I expect Australia to win this Test Match, as Chris Broad has had his one spell of the series, Woakes is out. Moheen has looked very unlikely to take many wickets so far and Australia will try and smash Mason Crane out of the attack and probably his confidence as well. Englands attack looks - Anderson apart fairly lightweight.

BoM (proven reliable) has 70% chance rain day 5.....surprised draw is so big, especially as we have seen few draws lately.
Report pxb January 3, 2018 10:11 PM GMT
If it spins from day 1 and Eng bat, could move ahead quickly.
Report TerryHurlock January 3, 2018 10:23 PM GMT
interesting morning ahead by the look of it
Report wondersobright January 3, 2018 10:39 PM GMT
england's bowling looks extremely weak
and england's batting is weak

so 1.66 is tempting aus but I thought that in melbourne as well & managed to get away with small red

looks an interesting toss, overcast conditions & possible spin at the back end

I like a bat 1st even in overcast conditions
