Take out South Africa, and name a better bowling attack anywhere in the world....

Report DStyle January 5, 2014 4:55 AM GMT
batting is still definitely average.

haddin, despite his success, has often faced the older ball, and our bowlers have been pathetic against him.

I do.  After a 5 test series where I took on the poms pointing out exactly what their deficiencies were and how they were extremely lucky to even win that series, it is very satisfying that everything I said has been proven 100% right, and they will come out of this series losing basically their whole squad to retirement.

There is no moral high ground for you to take here. As for supporting England through thick and thin, did you read DStyles post 11 minutes prior to yours?

Report shiraz January 5, 2014 5:11 AM GMT
Fair enough BJT, when Aus toured England in 2013 the 3-0 scoreline was a bit flattering to England, but they had some great individual performances which made the difference.  In this series Aus have had some great individual performances, but England have just capitulated which is very disappointing.  Obviously I would rather see Aus win than lose but I also want it to be a contest.

Has to be more players than coaching. Once you are out on the field it is personal character and competitiveness that takes over. A coach can't pick that up and put it in someone

No moral high ground; simple fact. Oz have gutless, spineless fans. All you are capable of is triumphalism when you are winning, which is what you relentlessly get on this forum from the likes of BJT. Eng were 'lucky' to win the last Ashes 3-0 - that's the sort of comment you can expect from an Oz fan and sums up why you are such graceless losers.
Report DStyle January 5, 2014 5:22 AM GMT
there has been one way and one style only from england, and he has championed it aussie driver.

he has been involved in sidelining Finn (better average and strike rate than both Anderson and Broad) and also involved in setting him up to fail at Trent Bridge. Likewise the shambles at the OVal with selection, likewise the side we're taking out here, likewise the Panesar situation, the quicks. How has Cook been helped to become a better captain? With Broad, Anderson and Saker still running the show in the field?

I've said it before, but our media have been as weak as our players.

There are some extremely specific questions that need answering not this general wishy washy crap that gets asked.

i'm all for the bubble and protecting players from criticism, but it's been going for a long time now and they've all collectively ignored people pointing out that they aren't always getting it right.

**** me, his contact has just been renewed until 2015, and he says he wants to be part of the re-building.

Considering you are one of the first teams to lose 5-0, the only team in ashes history to lose 100 wickets, made less than 2100 runs for 10 innings, had no batsman in the top 5, no bowler in the top 4.

Just reading this thread and the threads from the other tests has been comedy gold and I've constantly been laughing my head off.
BJT to his credit steadfastly maintained as did I that the previous series result was in no way indicative of an England domination and that but for circumstances and complete insanity on several occasions for periods of an hour or so in several tests that the result in England could have been very different and I have steadfastly maintained throughout both series that the Poms are the most massively over rated team in history and everything that has happened on this tour has proven both of us 100% correct.
We're om the improve, have a group of very good bowlers who have bowled, to a well thought plan, been disciplined and have bowled together as a unit from the outset. We have batted somewhat better with at least one or two batsmen standing up in each test when it really mattered.
In saying all that if we can find another couple of batmen we might just become a decent team again, so how bad does that make your lot look because we're nothing special and are realistic enough to evaluate our teams capabilities without constantly living in fantasyland. Apart from actually losing the series in England which of course no one likes, most thinking australian supporters who have some semblance of cricket knowledge and an understanding of the game were encouraged by our performance in england and the renewed spirit and fight that they showed, despite being distraught about the suicidal manner in which some, not all of our batsmen got themselves out.
Report alabaster crashes down January 5, 2014 11:58 AM GMT

Well played Australia, despite being no world beaters you smashed us to pieces. Despite England's complete capitulation I actually thought it was a really enjoyable series to watch...actually enjoyed this more than than the home series victory. Cricket was the winner, 'hopefully this is the beginning of the end of England's brand of attritional slow grinding cricket.
Report Lets Elope January 5, 2014 12:16 PM GMT
one can only hope that is the case alabaster
Report geordie1956 January 5, 2014 3:04 PM GMT
The problem is that if the same committee remain in charge of selection it will be more of the same type of attritional stuff - even more so because of our capitulation in Australia and they will try and delude the punters in the summer by merely trying to win negatively without any idea of changing the whole philosophy of english cricket - the mentality is totally wrong and there is no imagination to try and play an expansive(flamboyant) game as Australia nearly always try to do even when results sometimes go against them
