Not for me with its extrame violence, particularly animal violence, magnificent as the reviews are, thank you.

I've seen it before RL and indeed it is a very good film. I gave it a very solid 7.5/10 which is quite a high score for me.

didn't like it; overhyped & ridiculous (he should have dies 15 times) plus it won an undeserved Oscar for Leo. He's been far better in other films. A poor mans - Man in the Wilderness which is well worth a watch

A bit harsh Baphornet, I liked it and thought it was a good film and I'm quite a fussy git about films, horses for courses I suppose and all that.Plain

Never watched Luther in my life so I thought I would give it a go to see what all the fuss was about....Switched off after five minutes pure sh1te.....The Revenant was very very good 8-10.
Report Baphornet January 1, 2019 9:26 PM GMT
indeed, Slippy Blue. I can only call it as i see it; Leo is one fine actor but there were better performances that year. The 'recovery' elements to his character was overplayed. Watch the other film i mentioned and see what you think?

oh 4/10 for me with The Revenent. The scenery was excellentWink

4-10 That is a shockingly low score for such a very good Movie.Plain

Agree with Baphornet. Massively disappointed when i saw this at the cinema. Leo has had at least 5 or 6 performances more deserving of an Oscar. Thankfully the film itself didn't win. 5/10.

Thanks for the heads up. I enjoyed it.

to win an Oscar it 'should' take a brilliant performance that outdos others. As Dolph Lundren (and a myriad of others) could have performed just as good a task playing the role of an unkillable trapper/guide; Fassbender or Redmayne should have got the award in front of Leo. But that's the Oscars for you

OK my fellow chit chatters, "The Revenant" seems to have marginally more positive reviews than negative ones on here.

There is a film on tonight on 'London Live' channel 117 on Sky @ 23.30 namely 'The Flowers Of War' which I can recommend. It scored 76% on imdb which after seeing it twice I did think that a tad high, I scored it 70% myself but really likes it but make your own minds up.

"In 1937 China, during the second Sino-Japanese war, a mortician, John (Christian Bale) arrives at a Catholic church in Nanjing to prepare a priest for burial. Upon arrival he finds himself the lone adult among a group of convent girl students and prostitutes from a nearby brothel. When he finds himself in the unwanted position of protector of both groups from the horrors of the invading Japanese army, he discovers the meaning of sacrifice and honor."

You'll enjoy it I think acey. Not often I watch a film and are totally absorbed, Christian bale is absolutely excellent in it. Let me know next week what you thought of it mate.Happy
