For a war film "Fury" is pretty good.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2713180/

By the way prepared, I'm going to see Millwall against Villa on October 6th, my first ever visit to The Den! I'm going with my Sister in law and her mates who are all Millwall season ticket holders. I'll be cheering for Villa but will have to keep my gob shut if they win! Shocked
Report prepared83 September 16, 2018 8:05 PM BST
Watched that one last week slippy bud and really enjoyed it. Good lad cheering on the villa, be prepared to be bored stiff
if bruce still in charge though

Notwithstanding there’s neither mystery nor war elements to it, Ted 2 is hard to beat.
Report prepared83 September 16, 2018 8:08 PM BST
saw that recently as well pal and loved it, any others?
Report Johnny_Mustang September 16, 2018 8:24 PM BST

How about "The Guard", that's quite a decent watch.

If you can handle French,  Corps A Corps , starring Phillips Torreton . Avoid any reviews and you will get full value .

If French films are your thing and have got a strong constitution then "Baise Moi" is for you, also "Betty Blue" is brilliant but not a film for the faint hearted either.
Report dunlaying September 17, 2018 10:53 PM BST
If you enjoy those you should Lune Froide

Kajaki. British War film based on true incident in Afgan. Probably one of the best war films ever made.

Mystic River's a mystery/who done it type. Directed by Clint Eastwood and staring  Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon and Laurence Fishburne. It got nominated for loads of Oscars but Penn won Best Actor and Robbins won Best Supporting , I would have had Robbins for best actor, don't have much time for Penn in general. If you like this then Prisoners starring  Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal is highly recommended as well.

If you are going to bring in series and "war films" then look no further than Band of Brothers.

Pees all over rubbish like Fury then sets light to it!
Report Just Checking September 22, 2018 8:41 PM BST
Austin Powers is on 5star later, not seen that for a while, always funny.
1997? Time flies.

I watched the 1st Episode of BOB didn't think much of it ,But I have recently been given the Box set will go again Happy
Report Just Checking September 23, 2018 4:28 PM BST
It was based on a true story with real characters and strived for realism.
Fury .. not so much. "Lets have a crack SS division attack a disabled tank that can't turn an inch, and they do a frontal attack with small arms rather than just walking up to the back and sticking a charge on or under it or using a panzerfaust to the side which even kids were carrying during the fall of Germany". The A team had more realstic battle scenes ;).
Report Just Checking September 23, 2018 4:30 PM BST
First ep of Band of Brother is mostly just character development anyway, doesn't really get going until episode two or three, when Ross and Rachel get together Wink.
