Man what I wouldn't give to give that a go. And maybe I should just forget my age related aches and pains.

You would probably freeze your bollox off!
Report ericster July 8, 2018 9:15 PM BST
Percy I got aches and pains that you wouldn't believe. I'd give it a go.
Report akabula July 8, 2018 10:08 PM BST
Put yer feet in a basin of cold water.
Will soon cool you down.
Mind and take yer shoes and socks off first though.

Your aches and pains will disappear when you drop dead from hypothermia Shocked
Report ericster July 9, 2018 9:09 AM BST
Sounds good t'me mac.

Seriously though, muscles and tendons in my legs are giving me all kinds of grief.
Report themightymac July 9, 2018 9:06 PM BST
Joking apart, I sympathise with your situation mate. I went to a Chinese acupuncturist with help with similar pain and the treatment proved successful. I was cynical at first, but thought, to heck with it, I will give it a try, it can't make things worse and it worked. Good luck.

You can get freezable reusable packets from sports shops (or boots but the sports shops ones I tried are better) that you freeze then attach to the problem area.
Mini localised ice bath.
Report ericster July 10, 2018 5:26 PM BST
I like that JC, might look into it.

Yeah, I had a course of acupuncture for back problems years ago. Was a good experience. I just don't have the time for that nowadays.
Report SlippyBlue July 10, 2018 6:02 PM BST
Ericster have you considered asking your G.P. for morphine patches? My brother suffers from terrible back pain and his G.P. is giving them to him and they do alleviate his suffering quite a lot. Perhaps not a long term solution but they do provide noticeable pain relief by all accounts, maybe worth asking about them if you are suffering so much mate.
Report boxingthefox July 10, 2018 7:36 PM BST
ericster , JC and Slippys suggestions are both good, I did a full 14 days of Ice baths in 1992 15 minutes twice a day for muscle and joint pain caused by myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) I had read it had worked for Barry Sheen when he had the condition, It made the condition significantly WORSE in my case. I would respectfully suggest you approach with caution and just try for 2-3 minutes if you decide to give it a go.

Yes you have to be careful, you shouldn't put these packs directly onto skin, have a layer of fabric in between, mine all came with a pouch to stop freeze burns, and the ones from the sport shop come with a velcro strap so you could strap it onto and round your leg (which is where I get injuries)
Report akabula July 10, 2018 10:16 PM BST
My son used to have packs which were about 6" x 4" x 1" and plastic.
Not sure how he applied them. Is that the same thing JC?
Report ericster July 11, 2018 3:56 PM BST
Not sure that it's bad enough to justify morphine Slippy.

fox and JC, I'll bear that in mind.

Might just give those new pain-killer patches a go. Not cheap though. I've got next week off work. Will have look.

Has anyone heard of or used CBD Oil?

I recently met up with a cousin who's a builder and he told me about CBD.

He started getting severe aches and pain throughout his whole body a few years ago (I think they eventually diagnosed Fibromyalgia) and they tried every painkiller/treatment there was. No good.

He started taking the Oil and it worked immediately. If he doesn't take it for a few days he can feel the pain gradually return so he doesn't miss a day now.

I checked out a few online forums and quite a few people have said they use it to help them sleep through the night. Something I struggle with.

So will give it a go.

P.S. If it works on my gout I may buy the lot Silly

wagger,

I've heard of that stuff.
Wouldn't know where to buy it and it's not cheap.
Keep us informed on that one please if you try it.
Report themightymac July 11, 2018 7:49 PM BST
You can buy it in Health Stores in High Street eric, approx £20 a small bottle and dropper.
Report themightymac July 11, 2018 7:50 PM BST
You put a drop under your tongue 3 times a day.
Report themightymac July 11, 2018 7:51 PM BST
But you best check with your doctor if you are on other prescribed drugs.
Report themightymac July 11, 2018 7:52 PM BST
Personally I wouldn`t use it.
Report ericster July 12, 2018 4:37 PM BST
mac,
I get where you're coming from and it's a worry.
Trouble with me is, and many other old fogies, LIKE ME, it's self inflicted. Sort of.
I read somewhere that many of people's ache and pains could be eliminated if we worked less hours or had less demanding jobs. Well hey'ho, isn't that news?
And so, for now, we trudge on.

That cbd is marijuana extract isn't it?
And yes, that IS a worry.

Might just google and read up on it.

Looking at the capsules online. I'm curios/interested.
Report ericster July 13, 2018 3:40 PM BST
Thirty five quid for sixty but if the work..... Wtf.

Giving it serious consideration here.
Report ericster July 13, 2018 3:49 PM BST
I reckon 60 days on the stuff would be a good enough trial, and then?
Well?
It works or it doesn't.Plain
Report TheBaron July 13, 2018 3:54 PM BST
If you know that overworking a part of your body is causing the pain but ignore that and instead choose to find a way to mask the pain you are storing up a whole lot more trouble.
Report ericster July 13, 2018 4:22 PM BST
Yeah, I know.
I've thought about that.
But you can't just pack in working because your body aches.
Pain-killers are not a cure. I know that.

Maybe I'm kidding myself but I would like to think that my problems are down to inflammation and if I can get relief from it I'm going to.
I have just a couple of years to official retirement age.
If I can find something that will buy me some time I shall go for it.
Report ericster July 14, 2018 12:26 PM BST
First lot bought and paid for. I intend to collect them sometime next week and start taking them next weekend.
Report ericster July 28, 2018 1:35 PM BST
Well?
fwiw, if anyone is interested, they seem to be working.
Hopefully, my problems are/where caused by inflammation and I'm merely taking an anti-inflammatory.

Sorted. Maybe. Only time will tell I suppose but the signs are encouraging.
