"Treatened" says Roy - from Cork. Reminds me of the way my dear old dad said threatened.
Report Tommy Toes December 10, 2013 11:19 PM GMT
What a cracking programme that was!

In these days of 'metrosexuality' and gayers on every programme the 'brains' in tv can shovel in, it was so good to watch a real testosterone fuelled programme with no punches pulled.

Bravo ITV4.
Report Tommy Toes December 10, 2013 11:20 PM GMT
Programme about Didier Drogba on ITV4 now.

Ah!
Sorry Mr Badger - I've just realised who Doris Lessing was - I thought you meant that charleton jiggery-pokery 'people from the dead' woman!!
Report MisterBadger December 10, 2013 11:29 PM GMT
I was being serious tommy Laugh
Report Velasquez December 10, 2013 11:29 PM GMT
That was great, Tommy - very entertaining. Vieira is a proper gent. Roy Keane : "You'd have to pick Ronaldo as he is one of the best players in the world." Master of understatement!
Report MisterBadger December 10, 2013 11:29 PM GMT
ah, fair enough  Grin
Report Tommy Toes December 10, 2013 11:33 PM GMT
Hahah Mr Badger! I really thought you were kidding with that old woman from the dead whatsit!

Hello Vel!
It was riveting telly, wasn't it?
Just so good to see people speaking their minds without all of the claptrap that's in abundance now on tv.

Agree with them or not - it's good to see such stuff.
Report Velasquez December 10, 2013 11:33 PM GMT
Doris Lessing was mentored by a weird Iranian guy - esoteric occultist - an esoteric Sufi...it's remarkable how many writers and artists come under the spell of some Captain Bonkers from Orient far...or Occident near...

Can't understand why Fergie rubbished Roy Keane like that. It's just petty score settling - he obviously never forgets a wrong. He did the same thing to Strachan in his first autobiography.
Report Tommy Toes December 10, 2013 11:39 PM GMT
Agreed, Vel.
It seems so petty by Ferguson.
Report Capt__F December 10, 2013 11:40 PM GMT
Fergie saw keane in himself but not that ruthless

Fergie saw keane in himself but not that ruthless
Report Velasquez December 10, 2013 11:48 PM GMT
I think Fergie was heavily influenced by Jock Stein, who had little sentiment towards even his best players.

Was Roy saying Fergie is "Rootless" or "Ruthless" ? Tongue Out
Report Tommy Toes December 10, 2013 11:51 PM GMT
Root(th)less, Vel!

Loved the way Roy got the Magnier scandal into it.
And he was dead right.
Report Velasquez December 10, 2013 11:51 PM GMT
The thing about Fergie is that he does talk a lot of sh1te deliberately - he lays a lot of false trails. Kenny Dalglish had him worked out when he said, "Talk to the wean (his daughter, sure) - you'll get mer sense oot a'her!"
Report Tommy Toes December 10, 2013 11:52 PM GMT
Fergie must be a right money-grubber to go to such lengths when looking a gift horse in the gob.
Report Tommy Toes December 10, 2013 11:54 PM GMT
Vel, as Roy said: Fergie's 'rootless' - much to his own detriment at times.

Perhaps a bit too much testosterone for his own good.
Report Velasquez December 10, 2013 11:54 PM GMT
Yeah - there is a book on the subject, Tommy. It all started because the Irish liked the idea of a working class Scot lecturing the aristos of the Jockey Club at the Gimcrack dinner...bloody expensive dinner, that.
Report Tommy Toes December 10, 2013 11:55 PM GMT
Ha! Yes!
Report Velasquez December 10, 2013 11:57 PM GMT
As Roy Keane said, Fergie is all about "Power and control."
Report Tommy Toes December 11, 2013 12:00 AM GMT
Indeed, Vel.
I was rather pleased when the 'Irish Mafia' put him in his place.
Report Velasquez December 11, 2013 12:02 AM GMT
Me too - they really must have underestimated Rock of Gibraltar, though.

I'm less than half a mile away from where Stan Mathews spent his youth, Vel!
Report kenny mann December 11, 2013 12:06 AM GMT
Roy Keane comes across as an articulate miserable piece of work on his TV job. He also committed the second worst foul I've ever seen to end the career of Haaland. He didn't even say he was sorry when asked about it on the programme. Viera seems a nice chap.
Report Velasquez December 11, 2013 12:06 AM GMT
Our (old guy) mechanic knew Fergie through coaching at youth team level and he didn't have a good word to say about him -- he wouldn't elaborate, though...Scared
Report Velasquez December 11, 2013 12:08 AM GMT
We'll call that a score draw, Tommy...on the pools panel...
Report Tommy Toes December 11, 2013 12:12 AM GMT
I used to do a lot of swimming as a kid, Vel - and ended up with a deep-seated verruca which was 'bored out' by a chiropodist who used to work for SCFC.
It was some years before me seeing him - but he didn't have a good word to say about Stan Mathews.
Report Velasquez December 11, 2013 12:12 AM GMT
Yeah, Kenny - being near Roy Keane - it reminds you of those caper movies where they blow up the safe with nitro, and they have to be careful handling it. One wrong move and -- KABOOM!

Who knows, Vel?

The best ever thread 'Thick Stoke Haters' was expunged by Betfair for no reason whatsoever a few days ago on the Football forum - as was the 'Jonny Drama Thailand Adventures' thread on the Oz forum.

Both were over a year old and contained some brilliant narrative stuff.

Both were 'taken out' for no reason whatsoever.

It really makes you think that Betfair are trying their best to totally destroy the forum.

Well, if that happens, I rather hope Betfair totally destroy themselves at the same time.

i) Excited

The early Modern world did NOT approve of diversity - and was NOT afraid of social conflict and international conflict.

ii) The late Modern world is very tolerant of diversity - but is extremely afraid of social conflict, etc...
