In the old days, before twitter, you'd work out who it was by buying all of the papers, and then seeing who was in most of them for different, very weak stories.

Eg main story about unnamed politician: Express has page 8 story of Secretary of State for Widgets opening a fete in his constituency; Mirror has Widgets Secretary in charity football match; and so on.

Well, I have listened to him on that programme (DOND) and I don't see any compassion or empathy at all! Quite the opposite, in fact.
He absolutely  loves to rub it in about 'what you could have had if we were still in live play'. His faked friendliness toward the contestants is just a ploy to play with the emotions of these odd people. Just a game between Edmonds and 'the banker'.

Tbh. I only watch the end bit to see what insulting amounts are offered when compared to the actual market value of the box...and the tears of the 'I should have done this' or 'I should have done that' brigade!
But at least I aren't two-faced about it. Laugh

..interesting how information about yewtree is being carried in the mainstream media when it largely comprises elements of the celebrity/entertainment section of society...

..compared with the operation that staddled the early part of this century that was turning up just as insidious stuff about an entirely different section of our society that had far more chilling implications....the details of which were rather nicely absent from the mainstream media and when mention was made it was only in passing.

...some people are Teflon coated...and they know it!!!

CRACKERJACK!

The bathroom and toilet were downstairs in our house, so if you had the flu, you used to sleep downstairs on the settee, in case you needed to be sick or gob up some phlegm.

One of the great pleasures was not using the bathroom, but, instead, gobbing up into a bit of paper and chucking it into the dying embers of the coal fire in the dark. If you got it right, you were rewarded after a few seconds by a flame. If you missed, well, that was something to keep Mum occupied when she came down in the morning.
Report HH Sultan Vinegar November 5, 2013 4:36 PM GMT
Lovely memories screaming Grin- kids can certainly be gross. Whenever I had a cold there were only so many handkerchiefs available. Disposable tissues weren't to be seen in our house and using bog roll was frowned upon. So that I had a ready supply to blow my nose into I'd always have a couple drying on the radiator in my bedroom - the vapour from snot drying permeating the room.
