I'd have a crack at some of the burgers and the bbq'd meats..

But the really hot chilli ones etc - no way Jose.
Report Bish Bosher May 15, 2012 8:47 PM BST
Sheer gluttony if you can do the burger or pizza challenges; totally agree about the chilli ones
Report Burton-Brewers May 15, 2012 8:56 PM BST
it's a way of life and all the practice he gets
Report treble May 15, 2012 8:59 PM BST
No way. I feel full now and I've only had a McD's Chicago supreme and lattice fries.

He has a naturally large appetite and the day before a challenge, he eats nothing and drinks milk which stretches the stomach. The day after a challenge, he does a massive jog and workout to burn it off.
Report Bish Bosher May 15, 2012 9:04 PM BST
If I attempted some of the challenges the day after i would have a cardiac arrest Laugh
Report Burton-Brewers May 15, 2012 9:08 PM BST
my auntie went over to the states some years ago to see my grandad, he said it wasn't worth taking them to a diner for breakfast as they would only eat one steak
Report creatureinthesky May 15, 2012 10:59 PM BST
He had a crack at a 12 egg omelette with tons of fixins etc, he hit 'the wall' and had to stop with two forkfuls left.
He tried taking a break but was literally full, I'd always think you could fit at least one more forkful in somewhere but he was actually full to the brim.

New series Man V Food Nation is on Food Network channel. Think it just started tonight

He will die young.

(like the bloke though, a natural presenter)
Report treble May 15, 2012 11:42 PM BST
Why will he die young?

He does this for a TV show. His ratio of giant junk meals compared to much healthier meals is actually quite small.
Report treble May 15, 2012 11:46 PM BST
Besides, he's given them up now. He just eats normally.
Report Monkey Boy:The Directors Cut May 15, 2012 11:48 PM BST
Because he is a fat binge eater.
Report GAZO May 16, 2012 10:48 AM BST
he did throw up during one challenge,i think it was drinking so many milkshakes
Report John_Cherry May 16, 2012 11:05 AM BST
I'd be the same. I couldn't do any of the challenges but the sick inducing ones would worry me the most.
He had to eat a bucket of gelloto? the once and succeeded. How could you hold something that sweet in that volume down?

Is it morally right when so many children are starving in the world?
Report DonNo1 May 16, 2012 1:01 PM BST
I have a massive appetite but he's another level.  Would happily have a go at most of the challenges but the hot wings or chilli ones are out of the question
Report Burton-Brewers May 16, 2012 1:02 PM BST
have they repeated the episode where the chef has to cook a curry in a gas mask because of the heat?

I'd give em a good go.  I can eat like a proper American if I'm in the mood.  Once smashed a large Chips + battered sausage from the local chippy and 15 mins after dealt with a chicken vindaloo, pilau rice and Keema Naan.  Hit the spot rather nicely.  Also ate a 1kg bar of galaxy in under 15 minutes once :/
Report Angel Gabrial May 16, 2012 2:28 PM BST
I can eats loads. I`m not overly big and carry my weight well. I would fancy myself on most of his challenges . Perhaps we could organise a forum challenge.

Here it is if you haven't seen it. Chestnut is even crazier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVlvQMXQQAw

Yes Redbag and probably one which i would never be able to manage. It looked very starchy and dry bread would be a killer. No fun in that one.
Report Bish Bosher May 16, 2012 8:19 PM BST
No fun in that one Shocked; as much as i love my food i honestly don't think there would be much fun in any of his challenges

'the indian stuff tends to repeat on you tho.' Laugh

Quite like it when he goes to the restaurants/cafes and looks at the food they serve and the people behind it but not really keen on watching the challenges.  A bit too 'American' for my liking.

i love the one where he wipes the sweat from his brow with the same napkin he used to wipe the chilli concoction from his chin Laugh

I could easily survive for two days on that burito, the thing weighed 5 kilos Shocked

I spent three weeks on an all inclusive in Mexico during Summer break, obviously the place was mobbed with Americans. Never have I seen appetites like it, they were eating non stop. They queue for the midnight beach bbq had all of them out in force and the same people were there at 7.00 am for the breakfast buffet, incredible scenes.

To be fair the Brits, Dutch and Germans took over the bars, they couldn't match the Europeans in the drinking department not by a long shot.
