Come on have a shot what will they offer?
Report Des Pond July 22, 2017 3:09 PM BST
If you get 2/1, you will have done well. imo. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered you less than evens, tbh. Taylor's win against davis was very impressive, and surprised me (not to mention losing me a fair amount of money), and I can see him getting a shot at one of the belts, and I would be wary about opposing him a second time. At 140 lbs he's not ready for Broner yet, and Crawford would school him, as would Mikey Garcia, imo. Regis prograis is also a danger, but he could certainly beat Indongo or Burns, given the chance, and could beat just about anyone else in the Division with a bit more experience.

He looks a cut above the usual UK fighter that gets manoeuvred into a world title shot . With 4 belts they can usually find a vacant one  or a belt where the champ is only about the 7th best in the world.

The problem at 140lb though is in a month Crawford is likely to hold all the belts.

Crawford could move up eventually or Taylor could i guess by the end of 2019 , but with such a long window i think they will offer poor odds

I hit the 2020 so they can fire me a low blow then i hit them with 2018 Cool
Report OwnBrain July 23, 2017 4:40 PM BST
He will fight Burns i think and beat him
Then we need to see a belt drop ( Crawford move up possibly )
Crolla vs Taylor for a vacant belt maybe
Scotland v England that would be a huge fight for the UK

He will be more than 4/7 against the Elite fighters

Was 8/11 V Davis Laugh
Report tobermory July 31, 2017 7:22 PM BST
4/7 ?

With Crawford as undisputed champ , and Mikey Garcia getting involved ?

Or move up for Spence,Thurman et al

Best hope is Taylor drops down and sparks out Lomachenko Mischief
Report Shrewd_dude August 1, 2017 7:42 PM BST
Better off backing him at 1/2 to beat Burns before the end of 2018 at Slybet. No way he'll be 1/2 against a shot Burns. Won't get much on though.

Broner or something at 140 for a vacant i would get more than 4/7  Grin

Think i'll just back him fight by fight

Garcia calling everyone out at 135-147

Heard Loma/Thurman/Linares etc

Broner or something at 140 for a vacant i would get more than 4/7

Not in 2019 you wouldn't.
Report OwnBrain August 1, 2017 11:09 PM BST
Suppose not in 2019 you think he will
fight Burns. It has to happen at one point
be huge domestic fight.Even in 2025 Grin
Report Shrewd_dude August 1, 2017 11:34 PM BST
I think he will. Having been a fan of Burns don't think it will be great to see as I think he's past it now. But makes sense for Taylor. Got decent exposure against Davies but outside boxing fans and outside Edinburgh don't think he has a big name yet but a big fight against Burns would be a fight that puts him as Scotlands best boxer and gets him big exposure and hype. I think it will happen soon.
Report OwnBrain August 2, 2017 8:24 AM BST
Hopefully if it does it's in Edinburgh
Taylor mentioned Edinburgh castle or
Easter Road but no way that happens. It
will be Glasgow for sure.

In fairness to Billies Slybet have Josh Taylor at 1/3 to win a world title by 2019.
Report tobermory August 9, 2017 1:00 AM BST

Only chance i can see is if Crawford was wanting to defend the undisputed title v Pacquiao , and one of the alphabet groups insists he must do a mandatory vs some random guy , he'd probably bin the belt and then maybe it is won by a guy only about 8th best in the division and Taylor can get a shot at it later in the year

A belt falling vacant by start of 2018 is maybe Evs
Taylor getting a shot at it within 12 months ahead of other contenders i reckon about 6/4
Taylor beating whoever it might be.... lets say Evens as who knows

So true odds imo 9/1
Report Des Pond September 2, 2017 6:17 PM BST
Crawford has relinquished the IBF strap, which was always likely to happen, so there might be an opening for someone like Taylor to put themselves forward. The mandatory challenger is the relatively inexperienced Sergey Lipinets, who might prefer to to take on the IBF's highest ranked challenger, Kondo of Japan, before having to face someone more dangerous. It all comes down to the money, of course. Whoever offers Lipinets enough money will probably get a crack at the IBF title.
