Don't confuse it with luncheon roll, polony or devon — fritz is an iconic South Australian delight and its ingredients are probably better than you'd expect.
The common theory is that fritz is full of "bum, lips and rubbish offcuts".
But the delicious sausage meat actually contains top-shelf products such as beef, lamb and pork meat trimmings.
"It's still all good meat," National Smallgoods Industries Council chairman Franz Knoll told ABC Radio Adelaide.

The lightly smoked meats are then mixed with flour, starch, seasonings and water to bind, with recipes drawing from German influences.
Fritz's origins
The origin of where fritz was first made in South Australia is still up for debate.
It is believed to have been created in the 1880s by a man of the same name.
"Either [Fritz] worked in Hindley Street [in Adelaide] or Lobethal," Mr Knoll said.
The delicacy was known as "Fritz's sausage" up until the 1920s.
John, a retired fritzmaker, said the original recipe was 25 per cent lean beef or mutton, 25 per cent lean pork, 25 per cent pork fat and 25 per cent water and ingredients.
"Today's manufacturers reduce that fat down to 15 per cent and boost the lean meat," he said.

Along with its ingredient mix, fritz also has one more unique quality — its casing.
"What makes it uniquely South Australian — and it is the only place in the world that does it — is we put it into the sheep appendix," Mr Knoll said.
The appendix is known to butchers as a bung, hence the name bung fritz.
"It gives it the unique look and flavour," Mr Knoll said.

We've had it for about 4 months. I'm in a unit, we went with Internode whom I've always been happy with in the past, but although we're paying for, and getting 100mbps, it just doesn't seem lightning fast.
